If the failed bailout vote today in the US House of Representatives made anything clear, it was the George W. Bush is not only irrelevant, he is now non-existent. He had put the full weight of the White House behind the bill. He gave a national address in support of it, gave an early morning [...]

There are well-over two weeks left in the Canadian election, but the Liberals are getting desperate. It was reported today that Deputy Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff is calling upon NDP and Green supporters to back the Liberals in order to block the Conservatives. Such a pitch usually comes in the dying days of a campaign. [...]

Just days after 30 Rock won best comedy series, best actress (Tina Fey), best actor (Alec Baldwin) and best writing (Tina Fey… again) at the 60th Emmy Awards, I met Judah Freelander, who was performing at Toronto’s Second City. Freelander plays Frank, a writer for the fictional TGS with Tracey Jordan. In real life, he [...]

The PMO sent the following message late last night after another unauthorized e-mail was sent out via the PM’s listserv. The second one suggested that the Prime Minister’s recognition of Kosovo as an independent nation would justify a sovereign Quebec.
CP reports that the PMO has called in Canada’s secretive electronic counter-espionage police to investigate.
Someone has some [...]

UPDATE 2: 30 Rock [...]
Emmys… trainwreck bad!!!

The 60th Emmy Award Ceremony is shaping up to best the worst three (perhaps four, five???) hours of television ever broadcast. The focus on reality television is baffling. Months after the writers strike, shouldn’t we be celebrating scripted television again? The five co-hosts, all nominees for best reality tv show host, are lousy. They have [...]

The Prime Minister’s Office listserv was hacked today. The following “unauthorized” message was sent to subscribers:
Hi The Average Canadian,
Stephen Harper wanted to tell you…
My name is Stephen Harper. I am an ALBERTAN, here me roar! My goal is to make Canada America’s 51st state and destroy health care that all Canadians cherish by infusing my [...]

Perez Hilton, whose blog I normally enjoy, had a post today in which the “Gossip Gangsta” was on a particularly high horse. In his post, “A-List Celebs Missing from Fight to Protect Gay Marriage in California,” Perez (a.k.a. Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr.) complained about gays and lesbians who are major celebrities and entertainment leaders that [...]
